This Tuesday’s regular session (02/10) marks a special milestone in the career of State Representative Jair Miotto. For the first time since taking office earlier this month as Second Secretary of the Board of Directors, he presided over the proceedings in the Plenary of the Legislative Assembly of Santa Catarina.
For the lawmaker, the moment carries both institutional and personal significance. Miotto emphasized the historic nature of the occasion in light of his ministerial journey. “It is a great honor and a great responsibility, and for the first time, a pastor of the Foursquare Gospel Church is presiding over a plenary session in this House,” he said, highlighting the representativeness of the event within the Santa Catarina Parliament.
Leading the plenary session goes beyond a formal act; it also symbolizes the trust and recognition granted to the representative as a member of the Board of Directors, the body responsible for the administration and proper functioning of the Legislative Branch. By presiding over the proceedings on behalf of the Board, Miotto takes on a central role in organizing, coordinating, and directing speeches and debates, influencing the agenda, and ensuring compliance with the Internal Rules.
Alesc’s regular sessions address issues of direct interest to the people of Santa Catarina, covering current and relevant topics. The session being presided over by the Second Secretary reinforces the collective work of the Board of Directors, chaired by Representative Júlio Garcia, as well as the importance of balanced participation among lawmakers in conducting the work of the Plenary.
